“I have worked too damned hard to let some dick—.” I exhaled a deep breath. “. . . as good as it may be—I can’t allow you to destroy my life, Jordan. I don’t know what you were seeking that night at the gala, but if it was a weak woman, you picked the wrong one.”

Jordan brought his hands up to his face and respired. “By the time they realize something’s up, the money’s long gone and the account is extracted from their records and tapes without a trace. Like I said, I have inside connections.”

“I . . . I can’t—how did you get into this line of business anyway?”

“It’s a long story, but I’ll give you the short version. Before moving to the States, my father was heavy into gambling, which is part of the reason for us coming here. Anyway, from that ruthless world, he met a lot of people, but developed a friendship beyond gambling with these two cousins that were caught up in the 1983 New York Lottery scandal. The cousins, along with a relatively famous man in New York, who was accused of being the mastermind, set into motion what has become the Numbers Game. What the authorities never found out was that my father was the real mastermind behind the scam. Once he learned the role the cousins played in the lottery, he said it was a no-brainer on how to steal the largest jackpot at that time. The plan was to make it look as though the winner had a stroke of good luck on his side. They plotted to rig the daily number, a three-digit game the New York Lottery offered at the time. The cousins owned the vending company that supplied the machines that the numbers were picked from. All of the balls except threes, and nines, were weighted. This was a sure way that the drawing was almost sure to be a combination of only threes and nines, and it worked. According to the media, it was the unusual betting patterns that alerted authorities to the possible scam. My father believed it was someone that one of the three trusted who blew the whistle. Luckily, for my father, he never met with anyone, but the cousins, and used an alias in order to keep his real identity hidden. That story fascinated me in ways that I can’t begin to explain. As a result, I’ve researched heists and bank robberies, but more importantly, how they got caught. I wanted to best the old man. Unfortunately, he never got to see me become the clever and always elusive man that I am today.”

“I was just starting my career as a rookie at the time, but I remember the Numbers Game. Who would’ve thought that Jordan Lei was connected to it via good ole pops? Wow. I tell ya, the fruit sure don’t fall far from the tree,” Agent Garza belted out and scratched his head in wonder.

Aliyah rolled her eyes heavenward at Agent Garza’s interruption, and gave me the nod to continue.

I didn’t know how to respond to Jordan’s reveal. I was raised to believe that it was hard work that got you the rewards. “I want to relate, but I can’t seem to find a way that I can.”

“That’s the beauty of it, Bianca! I don’t want you to relate, but participate without really participating at all.”

I took a deep breath trying to take in what he was asking. I knew if I answered wrong, that I could lose him, and I didn’t want that. I was facing a catch-22—damned if I did, and damned if I didn’t situation. “But, why use my real identity?”

“Everything has to check out with identification systems. You’ll have offshore accounts where the States won’t have any jurisdiction. You’ll be fine. Trust me.”

I got up and peered out of the window. “Who else?”

  “Who else what?” he questioned.

“Damn it!” I turned to face him. “Who else is in on this operation that you’re running?”

“I have my associates,” Jordan damn near mumbled.

I stared at him long and hard. “Your associates?” I laughed. “Is Jordan Lei even your real name?”

Jordan got off of the bed and walked over to where I was now standing and taking in the view. “Please, allow me to reintroduce myself. I’m Jordan Lei. I make my living by robbing banks, high-end art galleries, stocks, bonds, and other ventures that I find to be very lucrative.”

I chuckled lightly at the audacity of this man. “So, you’re like what, a modern-day Robin Hood, or something? Better yet, are you going to rob me too, Jordan?”

He turned me so that I was facing him again. “I’m also the man that makes you scream out my name—” kiss “. . . shudder at the thought of me—” kiss “. . . have wet fantasies while in your meetings—” kiss “. . . can’t sleep or eat when I’m not around—” caresses my arms “. . . I’m the man that can satisfy your every desire like no other—” kiss on the forehead. “. . . because you throw caution to the wind just to be near me.” His hand softly traveled up my leg and rested on my pleasure button.

  A soft moan escaped my lips. “Ooh . . . ”

“ . . . I’m also the man that drives you insane just from a simple touch or whisper in your ear—” Kissed me. “ . . . my breath on your neck causes you to cream with anticipation of what I’ll do to you next—” Kissed me. “. . . I’m the man that causes your body to respond to me involuntarily, directly or indirectly—” Licked on the nape of my neck, followed by a kiss and sucking combination that I was sure left a passion mark behind. “ . . . I’m the man that can fix whatever ails you just by looking at you, arouse your intellect, and satisfy all of your desires—” Deep, hungry French kissed me. “ . . . Bianca, I’m your man. I’ll never put you in harm’s way.” Caressed my cheek. “ . . . I’ll protect you like I would the most precious of diamonds.” Knelt in front of me. “ . . . Bianca, you’re the rarest of any jewel that I’ve ever taken—” Pushed me up against the window. “Trust me, bae.” Kiss. “Believe in me.” He placed my leg on his shoulder and rubbed my kitty until she was purring. “Look at you, just as wet as you can be.” Inserted one, two, and then finally three of his fingers and stroked me slowly. “You want me, don’t you, baby? Don’t be shy now. Go ahead and admit it. You want to give in to me, don’t you?”

I didn’t respond, but he took my quivering and wetness as his answer. “Don’t fight it.” He blew warm air on my pleasure button causing it to stiffen and stick out even more. “Just let it be,” he said before removing his fingers and devouring me ferociously.

“Oh, Jordan. I’ll do it!” He caught my pearl and suckled on it gently causing me to shudder. “Got damn it, I’ll do it!” I felt myself drifting into oblivion. This wasn’t about an orgasm, but about having a lowdown to the nastiest of pornographic desires fulfilled.

Jordan stood with me still riding his face. My back pressed against the cool windowpane receiving all that he had to give with me being the main course.

  Chapter 5

I lay spent in Jordan’s arms. No words were needed for what I was feeling. I would do just about anything for that man, as long as he kept doing what he did so well to me.

“So, where do we go from here?”

Jordan patted me on the arm so he could get up. He walked out of the room, and returned a few minutes later with bottled drinks and his laptop. “Okay, this is what’s next.” He rubbed both of his hands together in anticipation of his latest coup . . . me.

Jordan set up three bank accounts over the Internet with my information. He said that way I could deny any knowledge of the accounts since they never would have seen my face, or have me on video coming into their establishments. He also reassured me that the IP address being used couldn’t be traced, since it was being bounced off numerous towers all over the country.

“Okay, we’re all set,” he said as he leaned over and kissed my nervous mouth.

I watched as Jordan wrote down information that he obtained from my accounts. He then logged on to Wrotham International, an investment firm, and accessed different portfolios of individuals and corporations that he had listed on some electronic device. He connected it to one of the portals in his computer. Once he got into the portfolio, he would enter in a sequence of numbers that scrolled through accounts. The numbers were moving so fast, that I couldn’t keep up if I tried. Jordan wrote down information frantically. I couldn’t understand what he was doin
g, but I did understand the dollar amounts he was transferring over into the accounts he’d gotten in my name. He looked at me and smiled.

“And to think, I’m only taking a small percent of what his account is actually worth. This money won’t be missed, at least not for a while, anyway. I’ve studied his spending habits, thanks to Jim Reynolds, one of my insiders at Kingdom Bank.”

  “Jim Reynolds?” asked.

“Yes, good ole Jimmy. He’s one of my go-to people. Good thing is, he has just as much to lose as I do. Being that you also have just as much to lose, it would behoove you not to go getting any ideas in that pretty little head of yours.” He slapped the side of my thigh. “Capisce?”

My head snapped around nearly causing me whiplash. “Excuse me?”

“I have a lot on the line here, Bianca, and I can’t have you, or anybody for that matter, going soft on me. So, yes, you are my lady, but I don’t love anyone more than I love Jordan Lei.” He pointed his finger at his chest.

“What happened to you’re my woman and ‘I’ll never put you in harm’s way,’ Jordan? Like you said, I have a lot at stake.”

Jordan never looked up from the computer. “Sure you do, which is why I know you’re going to be a good girl, and keep your fucking mouth shut.” He then leaned in and kissed me before I could pull away. “Rule number one, Bianca: never do dirt with anyone, who doesn’t have anything to lose.” He looked at me and winked. “Relax, sexy, we’re a team now. I wouldn’t do anything to hurt you as long as you do the same by me. We’re going to be like Bonnie and Clyde, but don’t worry; our story won’t end in a hell storm of bullets like theirs did.” I sat staring at the man that just rocked my world and turned me into a white-collar criminal all within an hour. Was I that desperate to have Jordan’s touch, that I was willing to risk it all? I answered that question immediately. Yes, I was.

Jordan did a few more transactions and closed the computer. “Jim will have all of the information for the transfers tomorrow. Your account with Kingdom is done.”

My curiosity got the best of me. “How much did you put into that account?”

He showed me the figures from each account he took from at Wrotham International. The number floored me.

“Oh my God!” I blinked rapidly. “Who? What—”

“Calm down, bae.” He laughed, and I can only imagine why with the way my mouth was hanging open. “It’s ours, well, except for Jim’s cut.”

“So, what does that leave me?”

“Thirty-four percent. For this one, I’m even willing to split the pie equally, and since the accounts are in your name, you should get the extra piece.”

I was still trying to digest what he’d just told me. “When can I get my cut?”

“As soon as we move it to Switzerland.”

“How?” I had to swallow the golf ball-size lump that had formed in my throat. “How long will that take?”

“Don’t worry. It will be sooner than you think. Maybe even tomorrow. Better yet, I can have Jim to arrange a cash payment to you,” he assured me.

I grabbed the drink he’d brought in, and gulped it. The burn from the unexpected alcohol surprised me. I looked at it before asking, “What was that?”

“Pineapple juice, with plenty of rum.” Jordan unplugged the laptop and put it away.

Then it all hit me just as hard as the unexpected rum did. “Oh, my God, I’m rich! I can’t believe it!” I jumped for joy and laughed till my head hurt. I dived into Jordan, who fell back onto the bed with his arms wrapped around me.

“It’s overrated. Being a millionaire, that is. Sure, you can buy anything you desire, but once you’ve done that, the thrill is gone. It’s just a means to a never-ending cycle of want, and before long, becomes about ego.”

I stopped laughing long enough to become serious. “So, how long have you been a part of the millionaire’s club?”

“I was sort of born into it.”

That halted me for a minute. “But I thought—I don’t understand?”

Jordan sat up with me still straddling him. “My father lost it all to gambling and drinking. I saw my mother go from socialite to a has-been when my father lost the family’s textile dynasty. Being exiled killed her—literally. It was bad enough that she had to fight for her position and respect, but once my father lost everything, all fingers pointed to her. Let it be told, she was the reason, even though my father was notorious for his gambling habit long before ever meeting my mother.”

Jordan’s eyes filled with tears, but they never fell. I could see anger in them that was no longer hidden. “You blame your father for your mother’s death?”

He dabbed at his eyes and sniffed loudly. “You damn right I do. He was a dreamer when he didn’t have to be. He had everything at his disposal the day he was born. At the time, my mother had just discovered that she was pregnant with me, when they had to flee to the U.S. as a result of his gambling.”

I embraced Jordan when his anger became too much. He held me tightly and continued to never let a tear fall. Instead, he made love to me for the rest of the night. The good sense that God, and my parents, gave me, fled as I took pleasure in the moment. Everything in me was screaming that something wasn’t right with his story, but at that moment, I didn’t give a damn.

After that, Jordan convinced me to open up numerous accounts, all in my name. I lost count after a while. I was so into the loving, and the added bonus of money, that I would’ve done just about anything to make him happy.

“I have someone I’d like for you to meet,” Jordan said one late night while we were having dinner out on my terrace.

I dabbed at the corners or my mouth, and placed the napkin down next to my plate. “Oh, really? Who?” I asked before taking a sip of wine.

He threw his napkin on his plate, and pushed back from the table. “In due time,” he threw over his shoulder as he left me out on the terrace. When I heard my alarm beep, signaling that Jordan had opened the door, I ran to catch up with him.

It was close to midnight as we drove to a Kingdom Bank located in downtown Dallas. No one was there, and strangely enough, not even security. Jordan had an access badge that he used to let himself in with. We were met in the lobby by Jim Reynolds whom he had been telling me about. Jim ranked high in authority at the bank, and made it known that by the time he was finished with the business he and Jordan had, that he would soon be president. He was trying to set up the current regional director to take the fall for his misdeeds.

“Jordan! Glad you could pull in some more accounts.” They shook hands, and clapped each other on the back as we walked to his office. “Here are the papers confirming our transactions from Switzerland, Caymans, China, Australia and Paris.”

Jordan took a seat at Jim’s desk, while looking over the documents with a keen eye. “Everything appears to be in order.” Jordan then placed the papers into his briefcase. “What about the dormant accounts?”

“Like taking candy from a baby.” Both Jim and Jordan laughed heartily.

Jim sized me up, and from the glint in his eyes, I could tell that he approved. “So, are you and this beautiful lady taking a vacation anytime soon?”

Jordan looked over at me and smiled. “We haven’t discussed a vacation, but I would love to see her on the white sands of Anguilla, looking sexy in a two-piece of the same color while sipping on something sweet. In short, I think I’ve finally found the one, Jim.” He winked, and I blushed like a teenager in love for the first time. It was to the point that I couldn’t contain my smile. Then again, that was only part of Jordan’s charm.

“I think you’ve made a wise decision, but one will never know fully until after a vacation.” Jim finally took his eyes off of me long enough to voice his stamp of approval . . . I thought.

They talked for a few more minutes before Jim became serious. “That ever-present thorn in my side, Chante Michaels bitch, is starting to use her brain.”

  “Whatever gave her a
reason to, after all of this time?” Jordan questioned.

Jim exhaled and leaned back in his chair. “I suspended Chad Wertheimer, and penned the missing money from the dormant accounts on him. I wanted to send his father a message, since he wanted to stall us out on the Wall Street matter.”

Jordan irately sprung up from his seat, and got in Jim’s face. “This shit was supposed to fly under the fucking radar! I told you, leave Wertheimer to me.” Jordan paced back and forth. I could see worry etched on his face for the first time.

“But, I thought with a little fire—”

Jordan shut him up abruptly. “Until the auditing of the dormant accounts, you had better pray that nothing is uncovered, or the Wertheimer situation won’t be the only thing that I have handled.”

“And I promise you, nothing will be. I just went with the assumption that using his son would speed things along.” Jim moved to the far side of the room to be out of Jordan’s reach. “Anyway, the matter is now under investigation, but don’t worry!” Jim raised his hands in surrender. “I have everything under control. They can launch all of the investigations in the world, but money talks, and bullshit walks,” Jim stated with much audacity from his safe haven. From the looks of it, he and I both knew that Jordan was about to go nuclear.

After a few intense moments of silence, Jordan surprised us both when he snapped his fingers at me signaling our departure. “You just better make damn sure you do. I’m not going down because of your fucking stupidity.”

“Don’t worry, I got everything under control. Seriously, I do,” Jim said, hoping to quell Jordan’s temper.

“I’m not worried, but you, on the other hand, should be.” With that, we walked out.

Agent Garza stopped the tape. “So, you’ve actually been in the presence of Jordan and Jim Reynolds together conspiring?”

I took a sip from my glass of iced water. “Yes, I met him on a few occasions.”

“We have Mr. Reynolds, Mr. Pringley, along with some of the other board members from Kingdom, in custody awaiting trial. I’ll have some photos for you to view later. Hopefully, you’ll recognize some of these men as coconspirators. With Sherman Val Easterman dead, the only piece of the puzzle missing is Jordan Lei, The Tarantula,” Agent Garza made known.
